Summary:
This position is responsible for assuring that the operation of the wastewater plant meets or exceeds all State and Federal rules and regulations. Work will be coordinated through the Wastewater Foreman and current staff. Maintain inventory of Wastewater Department lab by organizing, purchasing, receiving, counting, disbursing, and updating inventory. Cost comparisons by requesting and receiving quotations of specified materials and/or chemicals. To perform a variety of duties both skilled and semi-skilled.  Collect samples, record data daily, assist wastewater maintenance and collections crews as needed plus duties assigned. 


What you’ll do:
  • Conduct laboratory analysis by standard methods for various components (e.g. carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand, settleable solids, pH, suspended solids, E.coli, ammonia, dissolved oxygen, MLSS and record flow) using various laboratory equipment and recorders.
  • Responsible for compliance and enforcement of all applicable safety, security, and environmental rules and regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain plant operations by performing daily readings, gathering samples and maintaining chain of custody’s by logging analytical data on daily worksheets (e.g. time, place, operator, and results).
  • Organize the inventories of the Wastewater Department lab. Assign material locations and give each part a description, part number, bin number and a label including office supplies
  • Work with a variety of hazardous materials including chemicals, solvents, and biohazards using appropriate safety precautions.
  • Maintain scheduling, general correspondence and record keeping for the wastewater department including creating, scanning and maintaining paper and electronic files.
  • Perform analysis on samples annually from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for quality control assurance. (DMRQA)
  • Maintain files on NPDES permits for wastewater utility.

  • Required to be proficient in Microsoft Office especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must have good working knowledge of general office practices, procedures and office equipment required.
  • Must be computer literate and be able to enter information timely and accurately.
  • Must be able to work independently, with very little supervision
